Maude N. (Crawford) Smith

Maude N. Smith, age 94, formerly of 113 Park Village, Shelby, died Thursday, July 3, 1997, in the Crestwood Care Center after an extended illness. She was born June 18, 1903 in Shelby, the daughter of Matthew and Sarah E. (Stiner) Crawford. Mrs. Smith had lived in Newark, N. J., Cleveland, Ohio and Mansfield, and returned to Shelby in 1946.
She had been a ttelephone operator at the Shelby Telephone Company for many years, retiring as an assembly worker from the Autocall Corporation in Shelby.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Shelby, the V.F.W. Ladies Auxilliary in Shelby, the Pythian Sisters, Modern Woodman, and was a charter member of the American Legion Ladies Auxilliary in Shelby.
She is survived by 1 daughter, Sally A. Light, of Shelby; A close Friend, Don J. Limpach of Shelby; 3 grandchildren and their spouses, Denise Light of Iceland, Craig and Vickey Light of
Atlanta, Georgia, and Brett and Belinda Light of Atlanta, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by 9 brothers, Ray, Roy, John, Dale, Clarence, Jim, Ellsworth, Harry, and George Crawford and by 3 sisters, Sue Warner, Nell Eckstein, and Helen Crawford.
