Mary M. (Cox) Knapp

Mary M. Knapp, age 99, of 5937 State Route 61 North, Shelby, died Friday, June 30, 2006 at the home of her daughter, where she had resided since 1994.

She was born on March 29, 1907 in Taloga, Oklahoma the daughter of the late Samuel and Callie (Emerson) Cox. On March 21, 1925 she married Reginald E. Knapp and he preceded her in death on December 20, 1994. Mrs. Knapp lived her entire married life in Shelby and had been a sales clerk at various Shelby businesses throughout the years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Shelby. She loved animals and enjoyed cooking, sewing and working with her flowers.

Mrs. Knapp is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Jim Henry of Shelby; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph E. and Marilyn Knapp of Chattanooga, Tenn.; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and was the youngest and last of nine children.

Friends may call on Monday, July 3, 2006 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Monday with Rev. Gail Angel, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to First United Methodist Church.
