Mary L. (Vogt) Heichelbech
Mary Louise Heichelbech, age 79, longtime Shelby resident, died Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Med Central Shelby Hospital.
Mary was born February 9, 1932 in Leipsic, OH the daughter of Robert and Cornelia (Schroeder) Vogt. She was a 1950 graduate of Crestline High School. Mary will always be remembered for her hard work and dedication to the Saint Mary’s bingo program and the Shelby Knights of Columbus. For decades, Mary was in charge of the kitchens preparing thousands of dinners for weekly bingo, weddings, reunions and other events.
She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Society,
Past president of the K of C Auxiliary. Mary enjoyed golfing with the K of C women’s league and also playing bingo, cards and gardening. She will missed by many, especially her beloved canine companion, Bubba.
Mary is survived by her 5 boys: Michael Heichelbech of Shelby, Jim Heichelbech of Plymouth, John Heichelbech of Plymouth, Joseph (Julie) Heichelbech of Shelby and Dan (Debra) Heichelbech of Shelby; 5 grandchildren: Sidnee Marie Heichelbech, Jennifer Amstutz, Tom Quinlan, Nicholas Claytor, Cassie (Andrew) Harwood; 2 brothers: Robert (Shirley) Vogt of Crestline and Dick (Marilyn) Vogt of Crestline; a sister: Leoma (Bob) Gordon of Crestline. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter: Joann Heichelbech; 2 grandsons: Derrick and Blake Heichelbech; 2 brothers: Virgil and Eugene Vogt; 2 sisters: Esther Nadler and Joann Vogt.
Friends may call on Thursday, December 15, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where the Rosary will be recited at 8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 AM at Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church, 29 West Street, Shelby, with Father Nick Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary School. On-line condolences
