Mary Katherine (Worthington) Viers

Mary Katherine Viers, age 85, formerly of 81 North Third Street, Shelby, died Monday, October 18, 2004 at Dayspring Health Care Center in Fairborn, Ohio after an extended illness.

She was born January 11, 1919 in Shelby, the daughter of the late Otis and Zula Belle (Viers) Worthington. Mrs. Viers was a 1937 graduate of Shelby High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Eagles Auxiliary and AARP.

Mrs. Viers is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dean Owen Viers whom she wed on June 30, 1940, also a resident of Dayspring; 2 daughters, Janet Ansley of Sunbury, Penny (Tim) Young of Enon, OH; a son, Gerald (Betty) Viers of Williamsburg, VA; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Dorothy Roth and Zula Belle (Howard) Ross all of Shelby; a brother, Rolla (Mary) Worthington of Shelby. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Rollin and Harley Worthington, grandson, Ryan Viers, and son-in-law, Tom Ansley.

Friends may call on Saturday, October 23, 2004, from noon –1:00 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM with Rev. Marvin Wiseman, Pastor of Grace Bible Church in Springfield, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.
