Mary Jeannette (Wagner) Rhodes
Mary Jeannette Rhodes, age 82, of 54 Edgewood Drive, Shelby, died Thursday evening June 8, 2006 at her home after a long illness.
She was born July 17, 1923 in Cass Twp, Richland County, Ohio the daughter of the late Bernard L. and Isabelle M. (Enzor) Wagner. She attended Shiloh High School and was graduated from Crestview High School. Mary Jeannette was a school bus driver retiring from the Crestview School District after 24 years of service. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Shelby, Shelby Questers, and the Shiloh Grange. She taught crafts and basket weaving at the Richland County 4-H camp for many years. She took much pleasure in sewing, cooking and baking and was a true home maker. She put her baking skills to work and created many memories by decorating birthday and wedding cakes for many to enjoy.
On September 22, 1939 she married E. Darrell Rhodes and he survives along with three children and their spouses, Steve and Phyllis Rhodes of Shelby, Sue and Tom Schiffer of Shelby, and Robert and Susan Rhodes of Fostoria; 6 grandchildren and their spouses, Doug and Kathy Rhodes, Susan and Robert Hogsette, Brian and Valerie Rhodes, Karen and Keith Walters, Stephanie and Kevan Cannon, Stacy and Brian Cobb; 14 great grandchildren; a sister, Roy and Margaret Duff of Colorado Springs, CO and Robert and Ruth Wagner of Shelby; nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Sunday, June 11, 1006 from 1-4 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 10:30 AM with Rev. Ron Wells officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh. Memorial expressions may be made to the Crestview High School Library.
