Mary Frances (Fitzgerald) Cowell

Mary Frances Cowell, age 84, of 40 Simeon Avenue, Shelby, and formerly of 544 Frenchtown Road, Milford, New Jersey, died Wednesday, October 22, 1997 at Hillside Acres Nursing Home in Willard. She was born July 16, 1913 in Upper Black Eddy, Pennsylvania, the daughter of John and Emma (Moninghoff) Fitzgerald.

Mrs. Cowell was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church in Milford, N.J., the Rosary Altar Society, and the Milford Senior Citizens. She married William Frank Cowell on September 15, 1934 and he preceded her in death in 1979.

She is survived by 1 son and 2 daughters-in-law, William Frank, Jr. and Leslie Cowell of Robbinsville, N.J. and Geraldine Cowell of Warren Glen, N.J.; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Leroy Linn of Shelby; 6 grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Harry Fitzgerald of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Martin Fitzgerald of Carlsbad, California and Larry Fitzgerald of Port Charlotte, Florida.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son Harry Cowell, a grandson, Steve Cowell, 2 brothers, James and Tom Fitzgerald, 2 sisters, Helen Shoudt and Rita Tinsman.

Calling hours will be on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby and then on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Milford, N.J. Funeral Mass will be on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Milford with Father Michael Crummy, officiating. Burial in Milford Union Cemetery.
