Mary Ellen (Danals) Patton
Mary Ellen Patton, age 80, formerly of 39 West End Blvd., Shelby, died early Sunday morning, September 30, 2001, after a short illness, at the home of her daughter in Cincinnati.
She was born November 16, 1920 in Ontario, Ohio, the daughter of the late Harry Albert and Pansy Viola (Rutter) Danals. Mrs. Patton worked for over 20 years at the Ben Franklin store in Shelby. She was a member of the First Church of The Nazarene, where she had been a church board member and had held other offices. She was a past president of Business and Professional Womens Club of Shelby, had been a volunteer at Med Central Shelby Hospital for many years, volunteered for FISH, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and served the Richland County Board of Elections in various capacities.
Mrs. Patton is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Russell and Elnora Patton of Perrysburg, OH; a daughter and son-in-law: Gene Ellen and Rev. Leonard W. Budd of Cincinnati, OH; 4 grandchildren: Shelly R. Genaro, Nichole L. Sharpe, Bryan A. Budd, and Melanie R. Budd; 5 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Dick Danals of Canon City, CO, and Wilbur Danals of Perrysville, OH; 5 sisters: Betty Briner of Mansfield, Pansy Tucker of St. Petersburg, FL; Zelda Thomas and Jacqueline Wilson both of Largo, FL; and Linda Clark of Pinellas Park, FL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene C. Patton on June 16, 1989; 2 sons: Gerald Patton and Raymond Patton; 3 brothers: Everett Danals, Albert Danals, Wayne Danals; and 1 sister, Orthello Danals.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, October 3, 2001 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street in Shelby. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30AM at the First Church of The Nazarene in Shelby with Rev. Leonard W. Budd, her son-in-law, and Rev. Lester Champer officiaitng. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
