Mary E. (Lepp) Reed

Mary E. Reed, age 93, of 78 Grand Blvd. Ext. in Shelby, died Friday morning in Shelby Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She was born August 15, 1901 in Morrow County, Ohio the daughter of Henry and Clara (Sponsler) Lepp.
During World War II Mrs. Reed worked at the Bomber Plant in Cleveland. She later worked for Shelby Memorial Hospital and Dr. William Roasberry, M.D. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
While living in Cleveland Mrs. Reed took care of several foster children. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting.
Mrs. Reed is survived by 1 son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Merline Sergent of Shelby; 3 granddaughters and their spouses, Susan and Barrie McConnell of Mansfield, Paula and Leslie Albright of Shelby and Colleen Sergent and Rich Jones of Ft. Collins, Colorado; 9 great grandchildren; 1 brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Vi Lepp of Shelby; 1 aunt Helen Plank of Florida;
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Delton Sergent in 1955; her 2nd husband , Charles Reed in 1981; a son, Earl Sergent in 1987; a brother, Oscar Lepp; and by 2 sisters, Inez Smith and Rowena Scott.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with her pastor, Rev. James Smith, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.
Memorial expressions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby.
