Mary C. (Yetzer) Metzger

Mary C. Metzger, age 88, of 124 North Gamble Street, Shelby, died Monday, February 16, 2004 at Med Central Shelby Hospital after a short illness.

Mary was born February 23, 1915 in Shelby, the daughter of the late John and Helen (Faust) Yetzer. She was a 1934 graduate of Shelby High School and was a homemaker. She was a former employee of Wilkins Air Force Depot in Shelby and was the owner of the Nearly New Shop in Shelby for many years.

She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby, the Altar Rosary Society and the Shelby Senior Center.

Mary is survived by a sister, Helen V. Yetzer of Shelby; Many nieces and nephews; 4 sisters-in-law, Catherine Yetzer of Shelby, Marcella Weaver of Westfield, OH, Rita Smith of Crestline, and Bunny Hauck of Crestline; a brother-in-law, Frank Stella of Detroit, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Metzger in 1983, 7 brothers, Urban, Joe, Francis, Clarence, John, Lewis, and Howard Yetzer and 3 sisters, her twin, Martha Stella, Irene Clark, Beatrice Dick.

Friends may call on Thursday, February 19, 2004 from 4-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, at 11:00 AM at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Father Nick Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery. Memorial expressions may be made to St. Mary School.
