Mary A. (McMahon) Young
Mary A. Young, age 88, of 3781 Hinesville Road, Shelby, died Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at Outlook Pointe in Ontario after a short illness.
She was born December 13, 1915 in Shelby the daughter of the late Jerome and Martha (Phillips) McMahon. Mary was a homemaker and an excellent cook. She was a former cook at the old Brickley Hotel in Shelby. Mary spent many hours visiting people who were sick or shut-in and she enjoyed playing cards. She was a life long member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Bethlehem and was also a member of Daughters of Isabella and Altar Rosary Society.
Mary is survived by her son, Tom (Gerry) Young of Shelby; daughters, Joyce (Joe) Timmer of Crestline and Sr. Mary Maxine Young, SND of Toledo; daughter-in-law, Nancy Young of Cincinnati; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Elynor Flick of Nanty Glo, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard J. Barney Young on May 28, 1998, a son Ronald Young, a grandson, Brian Young and 2 infant brothers.
Friends may call on Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where the Daughters of Isabella will recite the rosary at 4:30 PM and a Christian wake service will be conducted at 8:30 PM.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Bethlehem with Father Nick Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Memorial expressions may be made to Sacred Heart Church or to Hospice of North Central Ohio.
