Martin Perry McKinney

Martin Perry McKinney, age 102, formerly of 34 Mack Avenue, Shelby, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon in the Crestwood Care Center. He was born December 23, 1891 in Crestline the son of Solomon Weaver and Malinda (Kirkpatrick) McKinney.
Mr. McKinney was a farmer all of his life. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, the Union Grange, and A.A.R.P.
He is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Ross R. and Vivian McKinney of Shelby and Ralph E. and Dorothy McKinney of Shelby; 5 grandchildren, Willard McKinney, Kathryn Fidler,
Mike McKinney, Robert M. McKinney all of Shelby and John McKinney of Longmount, Colorado; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; 2 step-sons, Charles Pugh of Columbus and Ralph Pugh of Shelby; 1 step-daughter, Marge Fagan of Shelby; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren ;
He was preceded in death by his first wife Edna M. Simon Waters McKinney in 1940, his second wife, Hilda F. Workman Pugh McKinney in 1991, 2 granddaughters, Jean Clark and Carolyn Rush, 1 great granddaughter, Tracy Clark . Mr. McKinney was the last survivor of 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby where funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. J. Malcolm Brook, his pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Memorial expressions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church or to the American Heart Association and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street in Shelby.
