Marjorie Elmina (Pugh) Gallaway
Marjorie Elmina Gallaway, age 87, of Mansfield, died Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Elmcroft of Ontario.
She was born December 25, 1923 in Richland County, Ohio the daughter of the late Harmon J. and Lucy M. (Kirsch) Pugh. She was the Salutatorian in the graduating class of 1942 from Union High School. She was a life-long active member of Clay Memorial Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of Ione Lantz Circle. Mrs. Gallaway helped her parents and then her husband on the family farm – the land that has been in the family for three generations. She was a volunteer for over 35 years for the Franklin Township Fire Department and the ladies auxiliary and North Richland County AARP #4991. She enjoyed music, quilting, embroidering, and crocheting. She was a devoted farm wife and took great pleasure in sharing her cooking skills with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: Marvin O. (Joyce) Gallaway of Mansfield, Duane J. Gallaway of Shelby, Beverly J. (Charles) Skiles of Mansfield, Bonnie M. (Richard) Brenneman of Fredericktown; 11 grandchildren: Leeann, Daniel, Michael, Matthew and Miranda Gallaway, David, Robert, Jeffrey and Philip Skiles, Renee Welsh and Gary Brenneman. 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 64 years, Owen F. Gallaway in July 2010.
Friends may call on Monday, March 7, 2011 from 5-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby and on Tuesday from 9:30-11 AM at Clay Memorial Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM by Minister Carol Kilgore. Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery.
