Marguerite E. (Ovens) Carner
Marguerite E. Carner, age 90, formerly of 67 Walnut Street, Shelby, died late Sunday evening March 7, 1999 at Maria-Joseph Living Care Center in Dayton, Ohio.
Mrs. Carner was born March 28, 1908 in Shelby the daughter of J. W. and Verena (Gerster)
Ovens. She married Thomas I. Carner on August 29, 1942, and retired from the Shelby Mutual Insurance Company. She was a member of Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Society, Daughters of Isabella, and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She was an avid
card player.
Mrs. Carner is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law: John and Mary Jo (Drilling) Carner of Tipp City, OH, Richard and Patty Carner of Johnson City, TN, Michael and Nancy Carner of Kettering, OH; 1 daughter and son-in-law: Rosemary and James Hormuth of Gathersburg, MD. 5 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas I. Carner on Feb. 26, 1995, 2 brothers: James L. Ovens on Dec. 30, 1906, and John “Herb” Ovens on March 4, 1999.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street in
Shelby, from 10:30-11:15 a.m . Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church with Father Frederick J. Schill, officiating. Burial will be in Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Maria-Joseph Living Care Center, 4830 Salem Avenue, Dayton, OH 45416.
