Marcia Frances (Abbott) Petrie

Marcia Abbott Petrie, age 90, of 32 South Gamble Street, Shelby, died at 1:53 p.m. Monday at her home after an extended illness. She was born September 10, 1897 in Shelby, the daughter of Frank and Amy (Myers) Abbott.

Mrs. Petrie is survived by one daughter: Virginia Petrie of Shelby; 2 grandsons, and 1 great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Wilson Petrie in 1957; 1 son Frank; 1 grandson, Matt; and 2 brothers.

Mrs. Petrie was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, the Delta Zeta Sorority, and was a graduate of The Ohio State University. She was a former home economics teacher in various schools and had been employed at the former Wilkins Air Force Depot.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark s Eplscopal Church with the Rev. Canon David S. Sipes, Rector of Grace Episcopal Church in Mansfield, officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Frlends may call Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home. Memorial expressions may be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church or the Shelby Public Health League and left at the funeral home.
