Marcella Frances (Metzger) Weaver
Marcella Frances (Metzger) Weaver, age 99, formerly of Auburn Avenue, Shelby, and for the past 4 years a resident of Westlake, Ohio, died Monday evening, April 17, 2006 at Rae-Ann Suburban Nursing Facility in Westlake, Ohio.
Marcella was born November 27, 1906 in Bethlehem Shelby Settlement, the daughter of the late Simon F. and Johanna (Cowl) Metzger. She was a nurse for 55 years in the offices of Dr. E.D. Dowds and Dr. Harold Johantgen. She was a long time member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the Altar Rosary Society, the Daughters of Isabella, American Legion O’Brien Post #326 Auxiliary, and was a charter member of Business and Professional Women’s Club. Marcella was a volunteer at Med Central Shelby Hospital for many years and took pleasure in her time spent at the Shelby Senior Center. She was an avid card and bingo player and enjoyed following the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians and Shelby High School Football.
Marcella is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Mary Weaver of Westlake, Ohio; 2 grandsons, Scott Weaver of Columbus, Ohio and Brian Weaver of Charlotte, North Carolina; 2 sisters, Rita Smith and Bernadette Bunny Hauck both of Crestline. She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley R. Weaver in 1988, 2 brothers, Vincent Metzger and Cletus Metzger and 5 sisters, Mildred Fisher, Agnes McJunkin, Mary Ann Brennan, Terese Stine and Blondina Metzger.
Friends may call on Thursday, April 20, 2006 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where the Daughters of Isabella will recite the rosary at 7:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 AM at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Father Nick Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Memorial expressions may be made to Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church or to the Shelby Senior Center Building Fund.
