Penwell Turner Funeral Home - Shelby, Ohio

Lucille (Baker) Dillon

After living her entire life in Shelby, C. Lucille Dillon, 82, went home to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, May 29, 2010 where she was received with joy. She was born into this earthly life on October 4, 1927 and had spent the last week at Hospice House in Ashland.

In addition to being a wife and mother, Mrs. Dillon was known to be a good listener and had several close friends over the years. She was a faithful member of Shelby First United Methodist Church, served many years as a Gray Lady at the former Shelby Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Shelby High School Class of 1947 Lunch Bunch. Among her many homemaking and community achievements, she and her family were most proud of the fact that she graduated from Shelby High School in 1980 at the age of 52.

Her loving husband, Oscar L. Dillon, went ahead to lead the way in 1992. Others who preceded her in death were Margaret Smith Baker, the grandmother who raised her; her parents Hugh and Elizabeth Lysinger Baker; brother, Raymond Baker; and sister, Jeanette Baker Wilson.

She was a caring mother to Sharon Dillon of Williamsburg, Virginia and grandmother to Dan Cutright (Linda Bargo) of Madison, Wisconsin; Linda (Robert) Grove of Williamsburg, Virginia; and Sarah (L.J.) Williams of Hampton, Virginia. She was very proud of her great-grandchildren: Jennifer Grove (James Falls); and David (Krystal) Grove; and her great-great-grandsons: Jonathan, Patrick and Jonah all of Williamsburg, Virginia.

Also surviving are an older brother and sister: Robert L. Baker of Shelby and Margaret Baker Ewing of Willard; a half brother: Gayle Baker of Defiance and a sister-in-law: Beatrice Baker of Shelby.

The family wishes to thank Melenie Francis of Park Village who went above and beyond her duties as resident manager of Park Village by loving and helping Mrs. Dillon during her last years. A special thank you goes to the staff at Hospice of North Central Ohio who made her last weeks comfortable and cheery.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, June 1, 2010 from 6- 8 PM at Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where Pastor Tom Snyder will lead her funeral service at 1PM on Wednesday. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland, Ohio 44805. On-line condolences

    Condolence:

My deepest sympothy goes out to your family. Lucille came into McDonalds where I work all of the time and we would talk alot. She always talked about being apart from her family and how she missed everyone. I’d see her at the store and we’d talk for an hour. I loved her dearly, and will miss her very much. She reminded me of my own grandmother, I’m very sorry
