LuLu Belle (Scott) Morton

Lulu Belle Scott Morton , age 86, of 846 Zella Aveune NW, New Philadelphia, Ohio, and formerly of 34 Post Street, Shelby, died at 6:50 A.M. Wednesday in the Country Club Retirement Center in Dover, Ohio after a short illness. She was born April 16, 1900 in Crawford County, the daughter of Israel and Iona May (McIntyre) Scott.

Mrs. Morton is survived by 1 daughter, Mrs. Gayle (Doris) Jackson of New Philadelphia; 3 grandsons; 4 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters: Ruth Striker and Jemima Sturtz both of Sulphur Springs; Rhoda Lane of East Palestine; Cynthia Applan of Bucyrus; and Naoma Emaheiser
of Toledo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Leonard Morton, former president of the First National Bank of Shelby, in 1982; by 1 son, Edward Morton; by 1 grandson; 5 brothers; and 1 sister.

Mrs. Morton taught second grade in the Shelby School system for 3 years. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Shelby, the Ruth Gleaners Sunday school class, Rizpah Chapter 153 Order of the Eastern Star, Hazel Grove Grange, Half Holiday Club, and the Jet Park Club in Palmetto, Florida.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 AM. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby, with her pastor the Rev. Dr. Carl L. Johnson, officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Friends may call anytime after 2 P.M. Friday at the Turner Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M.

Memorial expressions may be made to the First Lutheran Church and left at the funeral home.
