Louis E. Wright

Louis E. Wright, age 90, of 14 East Gaylord Avenue, Shelby, died Saturday, May 3, 2003 at Med Central Shelby Hospital after a short illness.

He was born August 31, 1912 in Shelby, the son of the late Merrill and Helen (Sprague) Wright. Mr. Wright was a 1930 graduate of Shelby High School. He held various floor positions at the Ohio Steel Tube Company in Shelby. Due to his extensive knowledge of floor operations and machinery, he was elevated to the position of draftsman/engineer, a position he held for the last 20 years of his employment, retiring in 1977. Mr. Wright was a member of First United Methodist Church and Shelby Masonic Lodge #350 F & AM. In the early 1930’s he was the founder and first scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop #403 at the First United Methodist Church. He was the proud recipient of the Boy Scout’s Silver Beaver Award. He enjoyed painting with oil and watercolors, gardening, traveling, golfing and fishing.

Mr. Wright is survived by his 2 sons and spouses: Lynn and Cynthia Wright of Gaithersburg, MD and Rick and Connie Wright of Bakersfield, CA; 5 grandchildren and spouses: Jason and Diane Wright of Gaithersburg, MD, Jeremy Wright of Gaithersburg, MD, Trent Wright of Newport Beach, CA, Nicole and Trevor Chunestudy of San Clemente, CA and Colleen and Jason Wayts of San Juan Capistrano, CA; 7 great grandchildren: Nathan Wright, Alex Wright, Haley Wayts, Madilyn Wayts, Abigail Chunestudy, Jackson Wright, and Davis Chunestudy. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Emma F. (Kotz) Wright on February 3, 2001.

There will be no calling hours. Private funeral services will be held at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, with Rev. Gail Angel officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to Boy Scout Troop #403 and left in care of the funeral home.
