Lois Virginia Felton
Lois Virginia Felton, age 88, formerly of 144 Leslie Lane, Shelby, died Thursday, June 10, 2004 at the Crestwood Care Center after a long illness.
She was born July 7, 1915 in New Alexandria, Ohio the daughter of the late Floyd and Bertha (McCann) Miller.
Lois was a 1933 graduate of Steubenville High School and worked at Ohio Bell in Steubenville and then in Galion. She retired from Shelby Mutual Insurance Company after 21 years of service. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church where she was a member of Circle One and the Challengers Class. She served the United Methodist Women on the District Board. She and her husband, Wib, were both dedicated to the work of the Mansfield Gideons. Lois was a volunteer for Med Central Shelby Hospital for many years.
She is survived by her 2 sons and daughters-in-law, John and Martha Felton of Stockbridge, MA, Don and Elinor Felton of Mansfield; 2 grandchildren, Lori Metheney of Shelby and John Felton of Mansfield; 2 great grandchildren, Kristi and Cody Metheney; a sister, Dorothy Humes of Steubenville, OH; a sister-in-law, Shirley Miller of Mt. Vernon. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbert Eugene Wib Felton in 2001 and by a brother, Rev. William Miller.
Friends may call on Sunday, June 13, 2004 from 2-5 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, and also on Monday from 9:30-10:30 AM at the funeral home where funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM. Rev. Gail Angel and Rev. Carl Beighley will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorials may be made to the Gideons or Hospice of North Central Ohio.
