Leona Frances (Mennen) Basham

Leona Frances Basham, 90, of 10 Dicks Drive, died Wednesday afternoon in the Heritage Care Center following a short illness.

Born June 30, 1895 in Lafayette, IN, she was the daughter of Obo and Minnie (Christopher) Mennen. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Lutheran Church of Shelby.

She is survived by two sons: Chester Howard Basham of Cincinnati and Leonard Mennen Basham of Medina; one daughter, Mrs. Norman (Elvanor) Straw of Shelby; 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.H. Basham, in 1973 and by one daughter.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church with Rev. Lynn Williamson officiating. Entombment will be in Memory Lawn Mausoleum in Phoenix, AZ. Friends may call 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, and one hour prior to the funeral at Turner Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Shelby Public Health League or Shelby’s Meals on Wheels program and can be left at the funeral home.
