Leola M. “Lee” (Melick) Fisher
Leola M. Lee Fisher, age 78, of 114 West Park Drive, Shelby, died Saturday, January 14, 2006 at Med Central Shelby Hospital after a period of declining health.
Lee was born May 2, 1927 in Shelby and was a 1945 graduate of Shelby High School. She retired in 1993 from Miami Systems after 35 years of service. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ and the Dizzy Dozen Bridge Club. (A group of friends who have been playing cards, eating out, and having fun together since they were in the seventh grade). Lee enjoyed decorating her home, both inside and out, for all the seasons and holidays. A lover of all animals, she had cats, dogs and a duck as pets over the years. Lee and her family always lived by the motto: We didn’t have much, but we always had each other.
She is survived by her husband: William Bill Fisher, whom she wed on October 17, 1975; her children: Sue Ann and Bob Payne of Shelby, Mikel and Sara Abbott of Gahanna, Ohio, Nancy Davis of Mansfield; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; her special 5th kid, Lynda Blair Glover of Phenix City, Alabama; a daughter-in-law, Deb Radebaugh of Shelby; a brother, Bill Meek of Shiloh; a sister, Janet Swartz of Bucyrus; Nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Milo H. Mike Melick and LaDonna Dinah (Miller) Melick, a son, Mark Abbott in 1990, a step daughter and step son-in-law, Elaine and Ron Wright in 1995 and by a sister-in-law, Arlene Meek.
Friends may call on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Richard L. Rader, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to the First United Church of Christ or to the Shelby Athletic Boosters.
