Lela T. (Barnd) Swanger
Lela T. Swanger, age 84, of 4 East Smiley Gardens Apartments, and formerly of 20 Church Street in Shiloh, died unexpectedly Sunday at her home. She was born June 3,1907 in Allen Township, Hancock County, Ohio, the daughter of John Martin and Grace (Harvey) Barnd.
Mrs. Swanger was a former cook in the Shiloh School system, a clerk in the Shiloh post office, and had been a waitress at the Chuckwagon Resaurant in Shiloh. She was a member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church and the Womens Society of Christian Service at the Church.
She was a 1925 graduate of Shiloh High School and a member of the Shiloh American Legion Auxiliary, Garrett Riest Post #503, where she was the past president, AARP, and the Golden Age Club.
Private funeral services will be held on Wednesday at the Turner Funeral Home with her pastor Rev. Hugh Hubbard officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh.
Mrs. Swanger is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Robert Seaman of Shelby; 2 granddaughters: Marla Williams of Shelby and Amy Mitchell of Mansfield; 3 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Gladys Keesy of Shiloh and Mabel Crall of Greenwich; 1 brother, Merle Barnd of Shelby.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 great grandchild.
