Lawrence “Pat” Patterson

Lawrence Pat Patterson, age 89, formerly of East Main Street, Shelby, died Saturday, January 13, 2007 at the Crestwood Care Center after long illness.

He was born May 27, 1917 in Shelby, the son of the late Lewis and Ethel (Lybarger) Patterson. Mr. Patterson was a retired employee of General Motors in Ontario. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Shelby and an Army veteran of World War II.

Pat is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Thomas Spangler of Shelby; a son, Larry S. Patterson of Denver, Colorado; a granddaughter, Jennifer Spangler of Columbus; a sister Helen Pry of Tucson, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary C. (Mills) Patterson in 1991, a granddaughter, Mary Michele Spangler in 1979, and 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

As per Pat’s wishes, calling hours will not be observed. Private graveside services will be held on Tuesday at Oakland Cemetery with Rev. Lester Vnasdale, Pastor of Agape Grace Brethren Church in Mansfield, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial expressions be made to First Lutheran Church or to Crestwood Care Center Activities Department. The Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
