Larry S. Skinner

Larry S. Skinner, age 63, of Monroe Avenue, Shelby, died Sunday, September 10, 2006 at his home after a short illness.

He was born June 26, 1943 in Donaldson, Minnesota the son of the late Searl and Adiela (Franklin) Skinner. Larry was a graduate of Kearsley High School in Flint, Michigan and was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1961-1963 stateside and in Germany. He was an employee of General Motors Corp. in Flint, Michigan and Ontario-Mansfield for over 33 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Mansfield.

Larry is survived by his wife, Mary Jane (Kenworthy) Skinner, whom he wed on March 20, 1965; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Brian Skinner of Loudonville and Jim and Julie Skinner of Shelby; 3 grandchildren and spouse, Stephanie and Matt Jaeckin of Willard, Jimmy Skinner, Jr. and Amanda Skinner both of Shelby; 3 brothers and spouses, Richard and Judy Skinner of North Dakota, Orville Skinner and Dale and Linda Skinner all of Minnesota; 3 sisters and spouses, Stella and Ervin Gorsuch, Lois and Merlyn Winters and Marie and Marvin Johnson all of Minnesota; Long-time family friends, Bart and Aaron McVay of Loudonville. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers, Clifford, Kenny, Melvin and Melford.

Friends may call on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 from 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 AM with Pastor Thomas D. Blair officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby with military honors conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad.
