Kenneth J. Alt
Kenneth J. Alt, age 78, of 5246 West Smiley Road, Shelby, died Friday, May 9, 2003 at his home.
He was born December 19, 1924 in Columbus Grove, Ohio the son of the late
Elizabeth (Nadler) and Arthur Alt, Sr. Mr. Alt was a farmer all of his life and was an Army veteran of WWII. He was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Shelby Knights of Columbus Council #1976, where he had been Past Grand Knight, Shelby VFW George Broderick Post #291, Shelby American Legion O’Brien Post #326, Shelby Eagles Aerie #763, Shelby AmVets and Shelby Owls. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, deer hunting, and playing cards.
Kenny is survived by 7 daughters and spouses: Sharon and Brian Buckley of Bucyrus, Sue and Charles Fancourt of Bucyrus, Theresa and Eric Badmann of Upper Black Eddy, PA, Jeannice and Kent Emerson of Schwenksville, PA, Barbra Murphy of Galion, Mary and Sean Geary of Cocoa Beach, FL, Lenora and Chris Parsons of Cheasapeke, VA; 3 sons and spouses: Thomas and Julie Alt of Shelby, Kevin Alt of Shelby and Charles and Therese Alt of Crestline; 16 grandchildren; a sister and spouse: Theresa and Floyd Shinaberry of Columbus Grove; 5 brothers and spouses: Jim and Ursula Alt of Blufton, Bill Alt of Columbus Grove, Harold and Phyllis Alt of Shelby, Frank and Vera Alt of Tempe, AZ, Arthur Jr. and Ruth Alt of Columbus Grove; a brother-in-law: Wilfred Niese of Columbus Grove. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth Jane Dolly (Smith) Alt in 1996, a sister, Marie Niese, and a brother Dean Alt.
Friends may call on Monday, May 12, 2003, from 1-3 and 5-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where a wake service will be held Monday at 8PM. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Father Norbert Weber, MSC and Father Nick Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery with military services conducted by the Joint Veterans Burial Squad. Memorial expressions may be made to the church.
