Kenneth F. Yore
Kenneth F. Yore, age 65, of 4 South Street, Shelby, died early Thursday morning, October 3, 1996, at his home after a short illness. He was born December 8, 1930 in Detroit , Michigan.
Mr. Yore was a 1948 graduate of Denby High School in Detroit , Michigan and retired in 1980 after 25 1/2 years of service as a police officer for the city of Detroit. He also worked at Anthem Insurance as a security officer after moving to Shelby in 1981.
He was a Marine during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Shelby American Legion O’Brien Post #326, Detroit Police Officers Association, and the Retired Detroit Police Officer Association.
Mr. Yore is survived by his wife, Lourita (Hannafus) Yore, whom he married on October 27, 1956; 2 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Kimberly Ann and James McHenry of Plymouth, Michigan and Susan Kay and Stephen Smith of Port Huron, Michigan; 1 son, Timothy Matthew Yore of Plymouth, Michigan; 7 grandchildren; his mother, Hazel Yore of Port Huron, Michigan; 1 sister, Marjean Fahey of Port Huron, Michigan; his mother-in-law, Florence I. Hannafus of Shelby.
He was preceded in death by his father Matthew W. Yore.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 7-9 p.m at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby and also on Saturday from 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Tim Schrock, Pastor of the First Church Of God, officiating. Burial will be in Little London Cemetery east of Shelby. Full military services will be held at the graveside.
Memorial expressions may be made to the Shelby Home and Health League or to the “Grow With Us” fund at the First Church Of God and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, Ohio 44875.
