Kathleen “Kax” (James) Daup
Kathleen Kax Daup, age 82, formerly of 29 Jayne Avenue, Shelby, died Friday June 9, 2006 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
Kax was born November 20, 1923 in Prospect, Ohio the daughter of the late Alfred Jim and Mary Cecile (Lauer) James. She was a graduate of Shiloh High School class of 1941. Prior to moving to Shelby in 1976, she had lived in Adrian, Michigan for 12 years, where she had been an active volunteer. She was a homemaker and was employed at Ben Franklin in Shelby for 13 years and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. For the past 4 years, Kax had been living with her daughter, Beth, in Powell, Ohio.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Steve and Sharon Daup of Adrian, Michigan, Kathy and Porter Beal of Monroe, Georgia, Mary Jo and Jim Early of Dublin, Ohio and Beth and Tim Reik of Powell, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a brother Richard James of Berea, Ohio, 3 sisters, Marjorie Dawson of Shiloh, Luella Perrin of Strongsville, Ohio and Carol DeWitt of Berea, Ohio; her step mother, Dorothy James of Colombia Station, Ohio. She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Douglas Daup in 1966, Jim Daup in 2006, her husband Ellsworth J. Daup in 1996, a great grandson, Nicholas Arbetello in 1996, a brother Alfred James, Jr. in 2000.
Friends may call on Monday, June 12, 2006 from 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM with Pastor Brad McBee officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh. Memorial expressions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
