Julius H. “Juce” Clabaugh

Julius H. “Juce’ Clabaugh, age 88, of 4251 Weidner Road, Shelby, died Friday morning, February 20, 1998, at his home after a short illness.

He was born June 18, 1909 in Monroe Twp., Bedford County, Pennsylvania, to Fletcher B. and Minnie (Cooper) Clabaugh. Mr. Clabaugh retired in 1971 as the manager of operations at Copperweld – Shelby Division, after 38 years of service. He was a farmer all of his life and was well known for raising popcorn. As a young man he was a talented softball pitcher, his hobbies included hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing and boat building. He was a former member of the Shelby Country Club and other various professional organizations. He graduated in 1927 from Shelby High School.

Mr. Clabaugh is survived by his wife, Bertha (Cook) Clabaugh, whom he wed on February 18, 1938; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Janet Clabaugh of Shelby; Terry and Joann Clabaugh of Woodville; and Chris and Kristi Clabaugh of Marblehead; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 sister Leota McGuire and 1 brother Herbert W. Clabaugh.

Calling hours will be on Sunday from 3-5 at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Canon David S. Sipes, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorials may be made to Shelby Home and Public Health, Caring For You or the charity of the donors choice.
