Julia Elizabeth (Luke) Dix
Julia Elizabeth Dix, age 101, of 44 West street, Shelby, died Tuesday evening, March 25, 1997, at the Homestead Nursing Home in Lancaster, Ohio. She was born August 13, 1895 in Zanesville, Ohio the daughter of Harry and Dora (Havens) Luke.
Mrs. Dix grew up in Cumberland, Ohio and moved to Shelby in 1919 to teach school. She attended Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Shelby where she had taught Sunday school for over 50 years.
She is survived by 1 daughter and son-in-law: Virginia Rae and William Emich of Lancaster, Ohio; 1 granddaughter, Sarah Davis of Lancaster, Ohio; 2 nieces: Joyce McKee of Rockville, Maryland and Nancy Mac Adams of Altamonte Springs, Florida.
Mrs. Dix was preceded in death by her husband Ray Vern Dix in 1974, a son Clyde L. Dix in 1957 and by 5 sisters and 1 brother.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 A.M. at the First Lutheran Church in Shelby with Rev. June Fryman officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.
