Josephine R. (Rock) Brooks
Josephine R. Brooks, 75, of 9 Park Village, died suddenly at Shelby Memorial Hospital at 5:50 a.m. Friday.
Born Aug. 2, 1911 in New London, she was the daughter of William and Rolesie (Ewing) Rock.
She was employed as a cook at the Prince Restaurant, Mansfield “Y” and the Richland Hospital, all in Mansfield. She was a member of the Richland Church of the Brethern on Linn Road, the Golden Age Club and Half Holiday Club.
Surviving are her three sons: Charles, Earl. and James Brooks, all of Shelby; two daughters: Mrs. Robert (Jean) Hartz of Shelby and Mrs. Kenneth (Bea) Bishop of Wadsworth; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Sheldon Rock of Florida, Melvin Rock of Columbus and John Rock of Mansfield; three sisters: Mrs. Homer (Aretta) Au of Mansfield, Mrs. Ethan (Charolette) Allen of Mansfield and Mrs. Bacel (Ida Belle) Tellier of Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl M. Brooks, in 1959, and by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Turner Funeral Home with Rev. James L. Smith, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Richland Church of the Brethern Cemetery.
Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice and left at the funeral home.
