Joseph H. Davis
Joseph H. Davis, age 82, of 106 South Gamble Street, Shelby, died Monday morning in the Crestwood Care Center. He was born January 26, 1911 in Shelby, the son of William and Annabelle (Farber) Davis.
Mr. Davis retired as a warehouse foreman from the Ogden, Utah Defense Depot, where he received the Meritorious Civilian Service Award. Prior to that he had been employed at the Wilkins Airforce Depot in Shelby, the Defense Electronics Supply Center in Dayton, the Shelby Cycle and the Seamless Tube Co. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Shelby and the Shelby Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #763.
Mr. Davis is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law: Duane and Ruth Davis of Mansfield, Bert and Dianne Davis of Shelby, and Jon and Karen Davis of Pataskala; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Jack K. Davis of Shelby; and a special friend, Pearl Schreck of Shelby.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Isabelle C. (Fairchild) Davis in 1978, 1 brother, Marlin J. Davis and a sister Jenna Dee Hamman.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with his pastor the Rev. James L. Smith, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.
Memorial expressions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Shelby and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home.
