Joseph F. “Joe” Laubie

Joe F. Laubie, age 77, of 81 Mansfield Ave., Shelby, died Friday afternoon in Shelby Memorial Hospital after suffering a heart attack Thursday. He was born September 11, 1911 in Shelby, the son of Joseph T. and Emma (Gosser) Laubie.

Mr. Laubie is survived by his wife, Lois (Seif) Laubie, whom he married on June 27, 1936; 2 sons: Joe (Jeff) Laubie of LaHabra, CA, and Jim Laubie of Dayton, OH; 2 daughters: Mrs. Larry (Margaret) Jones of Hammonton, NJ, and Mrs. Doug (Carol) Williams of Shelby; 17 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; 2 brothers: Charlie and Bob Laubie both of Shelby; 1 sister: Mrs. Frank (Virginia) Swanger of Shelby. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Mr. Laubie was a pressman at the former Shelby Sales Book for 44 years retiring in 1976. He was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the Shelby American Legion O’Brien Post #326 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was an Army veteran of WWII.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 A.M. at the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church with his pastor the Rev. John C. Missler and Rev. C. Reid Miller, Pastor of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Calling hours will be on Monday from 2-4 and 6-9 at the Turner Funeral Home, where wake services will be held Monday at 8:30 P.M. Military services wlill be held at the graveside by the Shelby American Legion.
