Jonnie Bobbette Pennell
Jonnie Bobbette Pennell, age 52 of 160 Railroad Street, Plymouth, died Tuesday, September 09, 2003 at Twin Oaks Care Center in Mansfield after an extended illness.
Jonnie was born October 8, 1950 in Shelby. Jonnie was one of the original students to attend Richland Newhope School when it was opened in 1967. Dr. Butner of Shiloh arranged for her and other rural students to be transported to the new school by taxi. She was well known in the Shiloh community while residing with her grandparents, Merton and Irene Benedict. Jonnie was a former employee of Richland Newhope Industries in Mansfield and the Subway Shop in Shelby. Jonnie had a strong faith in God and was a very loving person. Everyone Jonnie met became an immediate friend whom she always remembered. She was a huge Elvis fan. She will be missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by her mother: Mary (Benedict) Hoffman of Plymouth; 2 brothers: David and Beth Pennell of Mansfield and Dana Pennell and his fiancée, Jennifer Barrett of Shelby; 3 sisters: Jacklyn Buckler of Shelby, Roberta and Mark Castor of Butler, and Sarah and Craig Jose of Centerburg; many nieces and nephews; a special friend: David Alt of Mansfield; a cousin: Sam Elliott of Plymouth. She was preceded in death by her father Robert Pennell and her stepfather, Vance Hoffman.
Friends may call on Thursday, September 11, 2003, from 9:30 AM-11: 00 AM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM with Rev. Steven C. Bond, pastor of First Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh. Memorial expressions may be made to Richland Newhope Industries or First Lutheran Church.
