John Wayne Leedy

John Wayne Leedy, age 90, formerly of 67 South Gamble Street, Shelby, died Saturday morning, December 16, 2000 at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Fredericktown, Ohio.

Mr. Leedy was born October 24, 1910 in Ankenytown, Ohio, the son of W.H. and Belle (Guthrie) Leedy. He retired form Wade and Gatton Nurseries in Bellville.

He is survived by a step-daughter and her husband, Ruth and Howard Compton of Shelby; 8 step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Hedges of Mt. Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his wife Helen (Bemis) Leedy in 1982; a step son, Harry Dilley in 1997; 2 brothers, Richard and Robert Leedy; and a sister Eileen Yarger.

Friends may call on Monday, from 10 AM -11AM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral service will be held at 11AM with Rev. Tim E. Schrock pastor of the First Church of God, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.
