John Raymond LeVan

John Raymond LeVan, age 81, of 685 Fairlawn Drive, Columbus, Ohio, 43214, and formerly of Park Village in Shelby, died Friday morning, June 4, 1999 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio after a long illness.

He was born February 6, 1918 in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Raymond and Margaret (Sullivan) LeVan. Mr. LeVan was an Army veteran of WWII serving in North Africa and retired from Conrail in 1975 after 37 years of service. He was a member of Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby, Shelby Knights of Columbus Council #1968, where he had served as Past Grand Knight, and Father Clement Falter 4th degree Knights of Columbus in Mansfield. He was and avid painter, photographer, and traveler.

He is survived by his wife, Georgianna (Yates) LeVan whom he married on February 6, 1941; a daughter, Mary Margaret LeVan of Elburn, Illinois; a son and daughter-in-law, John Michael and Sandra LeVan of Columbus; a grandson, Brian Michael LeVan of Westerville.

Calling hours will be on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby where the Daughters of Isabella will recite the rosary at 5 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby with Father John C. Missler, officiating. Burial will be in Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial expressions may be made to the church or to Shelby Home and Public Health.
