John F. Scott
John F. Scotty Scott, age 77 of 72 Park Avenue, Shelby, died Friday, December 01, 2006 at the Crestwood Care Center after a long illness.
He was born July 29, 1929 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania the son of the late Walter M. and Ruth (Roberts) Scott. He was a truck driver most of his life and served in the United States Marine Corps. Prior to moving to Ohio, Scotty was a volunteer on the Wilkes-Barre Fire Department for 25 years serving as captain of the EMT Unit for 15 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles, Scottish American Military Society, VFW, and the American Legion. He was very proud to be a Clan Scott member.
Scotty was actively involved with music all of his life, playing the guitar, harmonica and singing in various groups.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi (Hawkins) Scott, whom he wed in December of 2003; 3 daughters, Linda Scott, Sandy Scott, and Jackie Scott all of Pennsylvania; 3 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 6 step children, Thelma Ball and Nadene Johnson both of Shelby, Ruby Long of Plymouth, Cathy Feltner of Tiro, Johnny Cole and Jody Cole both of Mansfield; 16 step grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; Special adopted son, Ernie Kapko of Mountain Top, Pennsylvania.
Friends may call on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 from 3-4 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be at 4 PM conducted by Rev. Benjamin Roby, Chaplain of North Central Ohio Hospice. Military Honors will be conducted at the funeral home by the Shelby American Legion. Memorial expressions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio.
