John Edmund “J.E.” McCollough

J. Edmund McCollough, age 81, of 105 Mansfield Avenue, was dead on arrival at Shelby Memorial Hospital Wednesday morning after suffering an apparent heart attack while walking downtown. He was born January 14, 1910 in Butler, Ohio, the son of I.L. and Rozetta Davis McCollough.
Mr. McCollough was a teacher and administrator serving in the Weller-Union rural schools from 1932 until 1942, in the Lucas Village Schools from 1942 until 1946, and as principal at Shelby High School from 1946 until his retirement in 1967.
Mr. McCollough was a graduate of Butler High School, St. Petersburg Jr. College of St. Petersburg, Florida, and The Ohio State University where he received a Bachelor of Science and a Masters in Education. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by 1 daughter, Mrs. Robert G. (Marcia) Carleton of Needham, MA; 6 grandchildren; 1 son-in-law, John Butler of Houston, TX.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ahrens McCollough in 1957; a daughter Judith Butler in 1988; and by 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Memorial services will be held on Friday August 23, 1991 at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church with his pastor the Rev. Lyle Hinkle officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the services at the church.
