John A. Huston

John A. Huston, age 86 of Shelby, crossed over Monday, Aug. 14, 2000 at Crestwood Care Center, following a brief illness.

Mr. Huston was born May 15, 1914 in Shiloh, Ohio, the son of Jesse and Ida (Barnes) Huston.
He was a 1932 graduate of Shiloh High School and a 1935 graduate of Mansfield Business School. On May 29, 1941 he married Marian Berning.

In 1936, John started his career in the production control office at the Ohio Seamless Tube Company in Shelby. He was the Assistant Production Manager until 1962 when he became the Production Manager; having that posItIon untIl his retirement in 1979. John had 43 years of service at the “Tuby.” He was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church, having served as head usher for many years. John loved golf and was a long-time member of the Shelby Country Club.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marian (Berning) Huston, currently a resident of the Crestwood Care Center; his son Tom and wife Mona and her son Mike, all of Shelby; His younger brother, Stanley Huston of Sebastion, FL; a sister-in-law, Edith Huston of Shelby, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Earl, in 1998.

John was a faithful Husband, and a Friend to many, he will be missed.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 W. Main St., Shelby. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with his pastor, Rev. Jeff Matthews, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to the Shelby Foundation and left in care at the funeral home.
