John A. “Andy” Tucker

John A. Andy Tucker, Jr., age 84, of 49 Taft Street, Shelby, died unexpectedly Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at his home.
He was born November 23, 1920 in Stanford, Kentucky the son of the late Addie (Holmes) and John Andrew Tucker, Sr. He was a 1937 graduate of Stanford High School and was an Army veteran of World War II. John was an owner operator trucker leased to Wenham Transportation in Cleveland for over 25 years. For 10 of those years he hauled tubing from the Ohio Steel Tube Company in Shelby to the Ford and Cadillac Plants in Detroit and Lansing, Michigan. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Plymouth. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed bluegrass and country music. He was a very talented guitarist.
John married Libby Hoeck on April 14, 1945. John and Libby celebrated 60 years of marriage on April 14, 2005, and she survives. Also surviving are their children and spouses: Regina Travis of Hilliard, Linda and Mark Whitman of Hilliard and Sam and Ann Tucker of Port Orange, Florida. 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; a sister, Elenora Simpson of Standord, KY. He was preceded in death by a brother, William , 3 sisters, Rachel, Addie and Elizabeth and by a great grandson, Ryan Stanley.
Friends may call on Friday, May 20, 2005 from 6-8PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street Shelby and also from 9-10 AM on Saturday. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Plymouth with Father Mel Verhoff officiating. A Christian wake service will be conducted on Friday evening at 8 at the funeral home. Additional calling hours will be on Monday, May 23, 2005 at the Fox Funeral Home in Stanford, KY from 10-11AM. Graveside services will be at 11:30 AM at St. Sylvester Cemetery in Ottenheim, KY with military honors. Memorial expressions may be made to St. Sylvester Cemetery.
