Jessie (McGlaughlin) Moon Anderson

Jessie Moon Anderson, 86, a resident of Heritage Care Center, died at 11:50 p.m. Saturday at the center following a sudden illness.

Born September 4, 1898 in Oconto, WI, she was the daughter of Alexander and Anna (Cairns) McGlaughlin. She was a resident of Shelby since 1917.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Shelby and held various offices as a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, Daughters of Union Veterans and the Military Order of the Cootiettes.

She is survived by one son, Burton Moon of Ashland; four daughters, Phyllis Gwinner of Shelby, Sarah Laser Reeder of Wheelersburg, Alice Watrous Adams of Shelby and Joyce Rinehart of Shelby; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and one sister, Myrtle Sanders of New York City.

She was preceeded in death by her first husband, Reuben Edward Moon in 1940 and by her second husband, Augustus E. Anderson in 1972.

A private funeral service will be held Tuesday at the Turner Funeral Home with her grandson, Fr. David Michael Gwinner (associate pastor of St. Marys Church in Portsmouth) and Rev. Gary Crites (pastor of the Ganges United Church of Christ) officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Plymouth.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial requests should be made to Shelby’s FISH organization through the funeral home.
