Jessie Ann “Granny” (Hinkle) Potter
Jessie Ann Granny Potter, age 82, of Shelby, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at The Good Shepherd Home in Ashland.
She was born May 20, 1927 in Louisa, Kentucky the daughter of the late Hubert Lee and Betty Ann (Wilson) Hinkle and graduated from Louisa, Kentucky High School. She was a former employee of Wilkens Air Force Depot, Big Plus Store and retired from United Telephone Company after 25 years of service. She was a member of the First Church of God in Shelby, Order Of The Eastern Star, and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was an active and vocal supporter of her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities. She enjoyed watching all sporting events on TV. Granny made many amazing and beautiful handmade gifts for her family putting to work her quilting, knitting, needlepoint, and crocheting skills.
Granny is survived by her 2 sons: Cliff and Donna Kay Potter of Shelby and Mike and Jill Potter of Shelby; a daughter: Beth and Gary King of Shelby; 6 grandchildren: Brooke and Randy Burkhalter, Mary Ann Potter and John Cassidy, Brandie and Matt Albert, Brett Potter and Jenny Winget, Andy and Lisa King, Brad King and Emily Andrews; 10 great grandchildren; Special friends: Dale and Darlene Jenkins and family and Vickie Howell.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Martin Clifford Potter in 1981 and a sister: Phyllis Cyrus.
Friends may call on Thursday, April 8, 2010 from 5-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where funeral services will be conducted at 10 AM Friday with Pastor Rich Cloyed officiating.
