Jean Burger Daniels

Jean Burger Daniels, 62, went home to the Lord on December 21, 2008 following a brief but courageous battle with cancer, cared for by her loving husband and son at her side in their home. Jean was born in Tiro, Ohio on September 20, 1946 to Edward and Mildred (Cramer) Burger. She graduated from St. Francis Convent High School in Tiffin, Ohio and attended the College of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois and completed her bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University and began her life-long career in social work. They relocated to California in the San Francisco Bay area and Jean continued in her profession of social work specializing in children’ services. While in Point Roberts, Jean was employed by the Point Roberts Library and assisted with many of their activities.

Jean was an avid naturalist and enjoyed many adventurous trips with Ed and Adam and the family dog camping and reclaiming land they had in the western mountains and wherever she lived she would diligently plant many flowers, trees and vegetables because of her joy that came from the growth from the earth. Her love of family would have them traveling back to Ohio often for family visits. Jean had a loving, gentle spirit that was a guiding force in her life’s work and in the care she provided to her family and friends.

    Condolence:

To Ed and Adam and family:

I’m filled with sorrow and grief that Jean left this world too soon. Jean was my first supervisor with Contra Costa County Children and Family Services for my first seven and one half years. Jean taught me how to be s strong, empathetic, caring and responsible social worker. She demonstrated great strength, intregity, and knowledge and was a most excellent role model. I have missed Jean’s presence at work, as she was the one person you could turn to for the real and correct answers.

Jean was not only an excellent supervisor, she was a good friend. She had a keen sense of humor and strong spirit. I know that her enduring spirit will grace us as she has passesd over and watches over us all. My deepest sympathy goes out to you all. We have all been blessed to have Jean with us for as long as she was allowed. May Jean now have peace and comfort eternal.

    In loving memory,

    Sallie Leach

    Condolence:

Dear Ed, Adam, Sharon, Tom, Carolyn, and Mary Ann,
You are all in my thoughts and prayers as you reconcile the loss of wife and best friend, mother, and sister. I will always remember Jean as the strong and vibrant woman that she was, sharing and taking the focus off herself even in recent months. Chad said that during a recent visit, he and Jean did some garden work. When Stephanie visited, Jean insured she had hot biscuits before departing for the airport for her return trip. May you each find comfort in your own memories of life blessed by Jean among us.
