Jaye D. Howerton

Services for Jay D. Howerton will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Turner Funeral by the Rev. Lindow Koop. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Shiloh. Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Howerton, 83, of 62 Shelby Ave. died Wednesday. He was born Feb. 11, 1903, in Newfoundland, KY, the son of Preston and Alma (Parsons) Howerton.
He was an inspector in the shipping department of the Ohio Steel Tube Corp., retiring in 1968 after 32 years of service. He attended the First Baptist Church of Shelby and was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Sandyhook, KY.
Surviving are his wife, O. Esther Price Howerton, whom he married July 5, 1962; three sons: William Preston Howerton of Mansfield, Robert Dean Howerton of Shelby, and Richard Edward Howerton of Miami, FL; three daughters: Judith Ann Mader and Barbara Beck, both of Miami, FL, and Dixie Leigh Tarintino of Denver, CO; a stepson, Michael Hall of Shelby; a stepdaughter, Sandra Williams of Miami, FL; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Opal Flannery of Portsmouth.
He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
