James S. Jennings

James S. Jennings, age 62, of 49 Third Street, Shelby, died Monday evening August 23, 1999 at Med Central Mansfield Hospital after a short illness. He was born August 6, 1937 in Shelby, the son of the late William B. and Iva (Connelly) Jennings.

Mr. Jennings was a retired 24-year veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in Vietnam amd was a Chief Hull Technician. He was a member of the First Christian Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #763, American Legion O’Brien Post #326, and was a life member of V.F.W. George Broderick Post #291, all of Shelby.

He is survived by 2 sons and a daughter-in-law: Terry Jennings of Marion, OH, and James and Pauline Jennings of Atoka, TN; a daughter, Angela Pratt of St. Louis, MO; 4 grandchildren; nieces and nephews; a sister, Elsie English of Shelby; a brother-in-law, Harry E. English of Beaver Creek, OH.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John W. Jennings, and a sister Dorothy J. Skipper.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a celebration of his life which will be held on Friday, August 27, 1999 from 7-9 PM in the upstairs banquet hall of the Eagles Lodge, 46 East Main Street, Shelby (Please use rear entrance). Mr. Jennings’ ashes will be scattered at sea off the coast of San Diego, CA with military honors. The family has chosen the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby to assist them with funeral arrangements.
