James F. “Jim” Banks

James F. Banks, 67, of 57 Vernon Road died Monday afternoon in Kettering Memorial Hospital in
Kettering after a short illness.
He was born May 28, 1926, in Wabash, IN, to Marion and Sylvia Coldren Banks.
Mr. Banks was retired from Fate-Root Heath Co. in Plymouth, where he was a welder. He was a former member of George Broderick Post 291Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he earned two Bronze Stars.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Archie and Vickie Sorrell of Ashland; two daughters and sons-in-law: Ann and Harold Breakfield of Kettering, and Dorothy and Roger Speece of Las Vegas, NV; six grandchildren, including Tim Robinson of Hawthorne, CA, whom he raised; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Clara Jane Dietrick of Lucasville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bana “Boots” Holland Banks in 1988; and three sisters: Wanda Simpson, Marthene Lindsey and Golda Ann Cantrell.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home, where services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. S. T. Adkins. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by the Shelby American Legion post. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kettering Memorial Hospital Foundation Oncology Department and left at the funeral home.
