James D. Williams

James D. Williams, age 85, of 1917 Red Oak Drive, Mansfield, died Monday, June 5, 2006 in Galion Community Hospital after a period of declining health.

Jim was born February 16, 1921 in Gate City, Virginia the son of the late James Denny and Flora (Gilliam) Williams. He was a 1938 Graduate of Shoemaker High School in Gate City, Virginia and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He attended The Medical College of Virginia for one year and graduated from the University of North Carolina with a bachelor of science in pharmacy. Early in his career, Jim was a pharmaceutical representative for Abbott and Upjohn. He owned and operated his own pharmacy in Griffin, Georgia for many years, before he moved to Ohio in 1964 to work for the former Gray Drug Company. He retired from Super X in 1989. Jim was of the Methodist faith and attended St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Mansfield with his wife. Jim enjoyed nature; especially the wildlife and flowers in his back yard.

He is survived by his wife, Judith E. (Lenzmeier) Williams, whom he wed on August 2, 1968; his father-in-law, Norbert S. Lenzmeier of Shelby; a son and his wife, Daniel and Joann Williams of Lexington; 7 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; cousins; 2 feline companions, Christopher and Holly. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rudene Daniel Williams in 1960, 2 daughters, Susan Copeland in 1987 and Elizabeth Seale in 1993, his mother-in-law, Helen V. Lenzmeier in 2004 and a brother-in-law, Jeffrey S. Lenzmeier in1999.

Friends may call on Thursday, June 8, 2006 from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 2:00 PM with Deacon Terry Philpott and Sr. Angeline Hoffman CPPS officiating.
