Ivan N. Burkholder
Ivan N. Burkholder, age 86, of Shiloh, died unexpectedly, Thursday, July 19, 2012.
He was born October 30, 1925 in Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania the son of the late Samuel and Anna Mary (Nolt) Burkholder. Ivan was a retired farmer and a member of Bloomingrove Mennonite Church.
He is survived by 7 sons: Rufus and Katie (Sensenig) Burkholder of Penn Yan, NY; Ammon and Erma (Nolt) Burkholder of Shiloh; Chester and Ellen (Weaver) Burkholder of Shiloh; Samuel and Wilma (Burkholder) Burkholder of Shiloh; John Ivan and Ethel (Martin) Burkholder of Himrod, NY; Harvey and Alma (Zimmerman) Burkholder of Shiloh; Curvin and Ella (Zimmerman) Burkholder of Penn Yan, NY; 9 daughters: Alta Nolt of Leola, PA; Elizabeth Burkholder of Shiloh; Katie Mae and Henry Sensenig of Shiloh; Martha and Harvey Martin of New Holland, PA; Mary and Allen Sensenig of Dundee, NY; Ellen and Ivan Leid of Shippensburg, PA; Susie and Allen Newswanger of Narvon, PA; Emma and Floyd Zimmerman of Shiloh; Ruth Ann and Delton Martin of Greenwich; 154 grandchildren; 298 great grandchildren; 3 brothers: Paul and Frances Burkholder of Leola, PA; Leroy and Annetta Burkholder of East Earl, PA; Elmer and Mary Burkholder of Leola, PA; 5 sisters: Esther Burkholder of Leola, PA; Anna Mary Burkholder of Leola, PA; Elsie Burkholder of Leola, PA; Sarah and John Brubacher of Leola, PA; Katie and Jacob Zimmerman of Leola, PA; He was preceded in death by his wife: Katie Martin Burkholder in 2002, by 2 infant sons, a brother: Willis Burkholder and a sister: Martha Burkholder.
Calling hours will be on Sunday, July 22, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the family home at 674 Free Road, Shiloh. The family will meet there on Monday at 9 AM prior to the funeral service at 9:30 AM at the Bloomingrove Mennonite Church, on Free Road, Shiloh conducted by Bishop Samuel Hoover. Burial will be in the Bloomingrove Mennonite Church Cemetery.
