Isabelle J. “Isy” (Henry) Viers

Isabelle J. Isy Viers, age 83, of Weidner Road, Shelby, died Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at her home after an extended illness.

She was born December 5, 1922 in Leesville, Ohio the daughter of the late Bryan J. and Grace Mae (Matthews) Henry. Isy was a 1941 graduate of Shelby High School and was a homemaker. She was a former employee of Shelby Metal Products and Shelby Sales Book. She also served many customers at their family owned business, Phil’s Place, in Shelby. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and was a past member of the Eagles Auxiliary. Isy was an avid bingo player and enjoyed playing golf.

Isy is survived by her husband, Herold A. Viers, whom she wed on
January 20, 1951; a daughter and son-in-law: Jan and Franklin Burton, Jr. of Shelby; 2 grandchildren: Donelda Burton and Frank Burton both of Shelby; 3 great grandchildren: Mariah Hartz, Hollie Hartz and Nicholas Hartz; a sister: Sue Wetz of Shelby; Numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her 2 sisters, Ruth Henry Rudd in 1967 and Eileen Henry Ingram in 1977.

Friends may call on Monday, October 16, 2006 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where the rosary will be recited at 7:45PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM at the funeral home conducted by Father Nick Cunningham. Burial will be in Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery. Memorial expressions may be made to Med Central Hospice.
