Irene Virginia (Heefner) Cummings

Irene Virginia Cummings, age 73, of 309 North Main Street, Tiro, died Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at her home after a short illness with cancer.

She was born November 24, 1931 in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Earl and Ellen (McCrea) Heefner. Mrs. Cummings was a caregiver to the elderly for many years. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting. She loved her grandchildren very much.

On October 20, 1951 she married Glenn Cummings and he survives as well as seven children: Levi Cummings and his companion, Connie Bolen, Randy and Cindee Cummings, Linda Bailey and Cindy and Vincent Stanik all of Shelby, Daniel and Tammy Cummings, and Mark Cummings all of Tiro, and Nancy Cummings and her fiancé Allen Lewis of Prestonsburg, KY.; 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Ray Heefner of Mansfield. She was preceded in death by 3 grandchildren, Michael Ray Bailey and 2 infants, 3 brothers, Richard, Bob, and Raymond, a son-in-law, Michael Bailey and a daughter-in-law, Cindy Chapman.

Friends may call on Thursday, May 26, 2005 from 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where funeral services will be held on Friday at 1 PM with Rev. Ralph Kusserow, pastor of Crouse Memorial Lutheran Church in Tiro, officiating. Burial will be in Crawford County Memory Gardens. Memorial expressions may be made to the family.
