Irene N. (Noble) Benedict

Irene N. Benedict, age 85, of 24 Park Village, and formerly of Shiloh, died Saturday morning in the Heritage Care Center after a short illness.

She was born June 25, 1905 in Cass Township, Richland County, Ohio, the daughter of Perry and Estella (McCormick) Noble.

Mrs. Benedict was a staff car driver during World War II at Wilkins Air Force Depot in Shelby and had also done custodial work at the Shiloh elementary school. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Shelby.

Mrs. Benedict is survived by 2 daughters and a son-in-law: Margy Elliot of Shelby and Mary and Vance Hoffman of Plymouth; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Merton A. Benedict in 1976 and by 2 brothers: John and Reed Noble and 2 sisters: Lydia Hammond and Lucille Shepherd and by 1 great-great-grandson, Curtis James Douglas.

Calling hours will be on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. James Updegraff, visitation pastor at First Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richland Newhope Center and left in care of the funeral home.
